YZU’s Family Visit Day Drew a Lively Crowd

Yuan Ze University valued parents’ voices, and its annual key event, Family Visit Day, was warmly held on November 15, attracting nearly 300 parents. The event centered on two major themes—Department Tour and A Conversation with the President & Q&A Session—allowing parents to gain deeper insights into the university’s educational philosophy, curriculum features, and campus environment, while also serving as an important platform for the university to collect feedback and refine administrative practices.

The event began at 1:00 p.m. with the Department Tour, during which parents visited various departments. Department chairs and faculty members introduced curriculum planning, teaching features, and learning pathways, and engaged in direct dialogue to help parents understand students’ learning and campus life. Faculty members also shared how parents could support students in developing positive learning attitudes and improving academic performance, while jointly discussing future development directions. Parents were later guided to tour student life and teaching facilities, where they also offered valuable suggestions that would serve as important references for future improvements.

The Conversation with the President & Q&A Session was held at You-Hsiang Hall on the first floor of Building 6, opening with an elegant performance by the Strings Club. President Ching-Jung Liao led college deans and administrative heads in meeting with parents, sharing the university’s recent achievements and developments. He stated that Yuan Ze University had performed impressively in admissions, internationalization, and competition results in recent years. The university achieved full enrollment in the “Star Plan” for three consecutive years, ranked first among comprehensive universities nationwide for two years in the Admission by Application process, and also achieved full enrollment in the 2025 academic year Admission by Assignment process.

From academic years 2023 to 2025, YZU received Ministry of Education subsidies for the Bilingual Education for Students in College (BEST) Program for three consecutive years. The College of Management was recognized as an EMI Model College, while the Colleges of Electrical & Communication Engineering and Informatics were designated as EMI Key Development Colleges. The university also promoted the Study Abroad for 1,000 Students Initiative, establishing partnerships with the University of Calgary, University of California, Irvine, University of Southern Denmark, the University of Bologna, and others.

In addition, students achieved outstanding results in research and innovation competitions, winning four major awards at the 2025 ISARCH Awards, the Gold Medal in the 2025 NeurIPS Machine Learning Challenge, and Gold and Silver Awards at the 2025 MUSE Awards, as well as second place in the 2025 Net Zero Tech International Competition. YZU was also honored with the Bronze Award at the 2025 National Corporate Environmental Protection Awards, as well as two Silver and one Bronze awards at the TSAA Sustainable Action Awards, and the QS 2025 Asia Pacific Internationalization Performance Improvement Award.

The university continued to improve campus facilities and services, including providing shuttle information between YZU and Neili Station. Major construction projects—such as the Semiconductor Center, Environmental Science Building, student motorcycle parking structure, and the New Taipei Branch—were scheduled to be launched between 2026 and 2028.

Yi-Chun Liu, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, stated that parents’ concerns this year mainly focused on issues related to student dormitories, and university administrators addressed each question in detail. She expressed hope that YZU’s education would continue to be a solid foundation for students’ future careers and life paths.
