Virtual Agreement Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between Yuan Ze University (YZU), Taiwan and Ariel University (AU), Israel

Yuan Ze University accelerated its pace of international cooperation by signing an academic cooperation agreement with Ariel University (Israel) on Thursday, August 18th 2022. In the ceremony, the two signing parties and the representatives of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Tel Aviv gave their opening remarks.

Yuan Ze University was represented by Professor Ching-Jong Liao, the President, and Professor Tze-Chi Hsu, the Vice President. Together with Professor Yun-Chia Liang, the Chief of the Global Affairs Office, Professor Ting Lie, the Deputy Chief of the Global Affairs Office, Professor Richard Bui, the Director of the International Cooperation Section, Global Affairs Office, Professor Miko Yu, and Adjunct Professor Simon Tu from the College of Management, attending the ceremony jointly.

As the President and Rector of Ariel University, Professor Yehuda Shoenfeld and Professor Albert Pinhasov led Professor Itzhaq Shai, the Vice President, Professor Idit Sohlberg, the Vice-Rector, and Mr. Benjamin Yang, a Taiwanese master's student studying at Ariel University, attended the ceremony and witnessed Yuan Ze University and Ariel University signing a memorandum of understanding over academic collaboration.

"It is my pleasure to have the privilege to witness Yuan Ze University and Ariel University signing a memorandum of understanding today ," said the representative Ya-Ping (Abby) Lee. As a representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Tel Aviv, Ms. Lee showed her great wishes to both parties.

"Yuan Ze University is looking forward to transnational cooperation and exchanges from the latter half of 2022 ," said Professor Ching-Jong Liao, the President of Yuan Ze University. Since its establishment in 1989, Yuan Ze University has been recognized as a model for newly emerging universities. Aimed at housing key research centers in Taiwan, their Fuel Cell Center and the Communications Research Centers have integrated all resources and recruited talents in all engineering-related departments at Yuan Ze through support from the Top Universities Project. Yuan Ze University places a heavy focus on the promotion of overall teaching and research capacity and giving top priority to students in the areas of teaching and counseling.

"We’re looking forward to our new collaboration in the near future!" said Professor Yehuda Shoenfeld, the President of Ariel University. Ariel University, originally established as a small college in 1982, was officially recognized as a full research university in 2012, making it Israel’s newest university. Ariel University’s award-winning technological Incentive Incubator has an exceptional track record of nurturing seed-stage companies to success. Incentive acts as the seed arm of Peregrine Ventures and co-invests with leading local and international VCs and funds.

In collaboration with each other, Yuan Ze University and Ariel University will conduct joint educational programs and research projects. Faculty members, departments, and research institutes from both universities will have the opportunity to network and cooperate directly under the provisions of the agreement.

The two parties will cooperate on lectures, seminars, discussions, and other academic activities that are mutually beneficial. Additionally, both parties can extend the exchange program for undergraduate and graduate students. Additionally, both parties can collaborate on educational or training projects.
