Deepening Academic Development

Yuan Ze University (YZU) possesses strong research potential and resources. Under a robust incentive system, the university fosters a research environment characterized by creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Thanks to the dedication of its faculty and students over the past 30 years, YZU has consistently demonstrated excellence and continued innovation across various research domains. The university’s outstanding performance is reflected in the quantity and impact of academic publications, the scale of research projects and funding, and the effectiveness of industry-academia collaborations—showcasing its potential to generate top-tier research outcomes.

Incentives for Academic Research

Academic development is closely tied to national innovation capacity and competitiveness, which is deeply connected to academic and educational achievements. To encourage outstanding faculty in academic research and promote a strong research culture, YZU has established the following incentive and support mechanisms:

  1. Faculty Performance Incentive Program
    – Monetary awards based on faculty research performance.

  2. Subsidies for Academic Publications

  3. Support for Securing Research Grants
    – Includes matching funds for research teams, credit hour reductions for project leaders, research subsidies, and assistance with research ethics reviews.

  4. Faculty Research Development Support
    – Organizing the “Path to Research Excellence” seminar series, inviting renowned scholars to share experiences; providing startup funds for new faculty; and implementing a mentoring system to help early-career researchers establish their research path.

  5. Intellectual Property Management
    – Funding support for patent application and maintenance.

  6. Promotion of International Research Collaboration
    – Encouraging partnerships between YZU academic units and globally renowned universities and research institutions to elevate the university’s overall research profile.

Future Development Goals

In line with YZU’s 20-year vision, the university is committed to promoting “application-oriented research” and “university-industry collaboration.” The goal is to build a favorable environment for research and industrial development, enabling the transfer of intellectual property and talent to the industry. This will provide strong support for enterprises in developing cutting-edge technologies and innovative products, thereby directing academic research energy toward industrial applications. Ultimately, the university aims to achieve vertical integration in innovation and R&D, technology transfer, and business incubation.
