The President of Yuan Ze University and the Global Affairs Office prepared gifts of Mid-Autumn Festival for overseas students, including pomelo and mooncakes. Prof. Chih-Yang Lin, Chief of Global Affairs Office, said that culturally, pomelo has the homophonic sound of “youzi”, which means good luck; while mooncakes are made in a round shape that can be shared by the family, symbolizing reunion and harmony. Foreign students would not feel lonely and also experience the warmth of Mid-Autumn Festival by these gifts.
