【Course Information】114-1 Research Ethics Education and Training (Chinese-language Lecture)

  • Topic: Informed? Did You Consent? — The Practice of Participant Recruitment and Informed Consent
  • Introduce:

In all studies involving human participants, informed consent is not merely a procedural document-signing step; rather, it is a core mechanism that ensures participants understand the research and voluntarily agree to take part.

To deepen understanding of this important topic, the Office of Research and Development has invited Dr. Chia-Chiao Chu, Executive Secretary of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Institutional Review Board (IRB) at National Taiwan University (NTU), to give a talk on campus. Dr. Chu has served as Executive Secretary of the NTU Behavioral and Social Sciences IRB since 2010 and has been an auditing committee member for the Ministry of Education’s Human Research Ethics Review since 2012. He also holds the IRB Administrator certification from the Taiwan Association of Institutional Review Boards (TAIRB), bringing extensive practical experience in research ethics.

Faculty members and students interested in research ethics are warmly welcomed to join the event. Through real case examples, participants will gain a deeper appreciation of the importance of safeguarding participant rights and learn how research can be not only scientific inquiry but also a responsible social practice.
