Announcement: 2026 Academia Sinica Young Scholars’ Research Achievement Award

The 2026 Academia Sinica Young Scholars’ Research Achievement Award is now open for online applications from December 15, 2025 to January 15, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.

1. About the Award

The award is presented in three categories:

  • Mathematics and Physical Sciences

  • Life Sciences

  • Humanities and Social Sciences

Up to three awardees may be selected for each category annually. An additional awardee for Interdisciplinary Sciences may be selected when necessary.

Each awardee will receive:

  • A medal

  • A cash prize of NT$300,000

  • A research grant of NT$300,000


2. Eligibility

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree from:

  • A domestic public university, a private university/independent college accredited by the Ministry of Education, or

  • A foreign university/independent college recognized by Academia Sinica.

Applicants must also meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Service Seniority:
    The applicant must have served less than eight (8) years since the first appointment as a full-time Assistant Research Fellow, Assistant Professor, or an equivalent rank (i.e., initial appointment date must be after August 1, 2017).
    Applicants who took leave without pay for childbirth or childcare during this period may receive a two-year extension per child.

  2. Current Employment:
    Applicants must hold a full-time position at a domestic academic research institution or a public/private university or college.
    (Postdoctoral researchers are not eligible.)


3. Application Procedure

Applications must be submitted online only.

Required Documents

Applicants must upload the following documents:

  1. Representative Works (up to 3 items):
    Works must have been published or accepted for publication during domestic service within the five-year period from August 2, 2020 to August 1, 2025.

    • Doctoral dissertations are not eligible.

    • Works are not limited to publications in Chinese.

    • If a work is an expanded or revised version of a doctoral dissertation, the applicant must provide a statement specifying the revisions, expanded content, and innovativeness. Such works will be accepted only upon approval by the Review Committee.

  2. List of Research Publications:
    A list of research publications covering August 2, 2020 to August 1, 2025.

  3. Letters of Recommendation:
    Two (2) letters of recommendation.

  4. Additional Documents (for Non–Academia Sinica Personnel):

    • A certificate of current employment issued after August 1, 2025.

    • A copy of the Ph.D. diploma.


4. Application Submission

Applicants must complete registration and upload all application materials through the Academia Sinica Academic Service Management System (ASMS) by January 15, 2026.
