I. When is the deadline for applying for the payments of benefits of Government Employee and School Staff Insurance (GESSI)?  (person in charge:  Ms. Huang ext.2224)

The benefits of Government Employee and School Staff Insurance (GESSI) coverage are as the following: Benefits for Disability, Old Age, and Death, Dependents' Funeral Allowance, Parental Leave Allowance and Maternity Benefit.

A claim for insurance benefits shall be extinguished if not filed within ten years from the day on which the benefits become payable. For details, please refer to the  information of Government Employees' and School Staffs' Insurance (GESSI)  on the website of Bank of Taiwan.

II. How to apply for hospital care or accidental medical benefits of school’s group insurance? (person in charge: Ms. Huang ext.2224)

The applicant shall fill out the application form of the accident and shall submit the certificate of diagnosis and receipt of medical expenses to Personnel Office. A claim for insurance benefits shall be extinguished if not filed within two years from the day on which the benefits become payable.

III. How to subscribe or suspend National Health Insurance for dependants? (person in charge: Ms. Huang ext.2224)

Subscription of National Health Insurance for dependants: According to the regulations of Bureau of National Health Insurance, The lineal blood descendants or the spouse of the insured who are not employed may subscribe to this Insurance as dependents with copies of both sides of an ID Card (or a copy of the Household Registration List) and waiving insurance notification of National Health Insurance. The lineal blood descendants of the insured who are over twenty years old and not employed shall submit copies of both sides of an student ID card. (Newly graduated from schools of Taiwan who are not employed may then be insured for one year from the end of the relevant academic year with the copy of diploma as an evidence. Discharge from compulsory military service who are not employed may then be insured for one year from the date of discharge with the copy of military service certificate as an evidence.) For newborn babies to subscribe to this Insurance as dependents, the applicant shall fill out the forms at Personnel Office and submit the copies of Household Registration List or Household Registration Certificate. The dependants’ (regardless of adults or children) premium of National Health Insurance is the same as the premium of the insured.

Suspension of National Health Insurance for dependants: Applicants shall fill out form at Personnel Office (those who are of compulsory military service shall submit a copy of the notice of military service). The lineal blood descendants of the insured who are over twenty years old and are not students shall process the suspension of National Health Insurance first and then process the subscription at the household registration office.

IV. How do dependants of the insured suspend National Health Insurance due to going abroad? How do they re-enroll in National Health Insurance after suspension? (person in charge: Ms. Huang ext.2224)

Dependants of the insured suspend National Health Insurance due to going abroad: Those who travel overseas for over six months shall process the suspension at Personnel Office. However, those who return from overseas less than six months shall revoke coverage suspension and make up the premium payment.

Dependants of the insured re-enroll in National Health Insurance after returning: Those who have traveled overseas for over six months shall re-enroll in National Health Insurance and resume coverage from the date of returning by submitting copies of their passports (stamps of exit/entry) and copies of both sides of their ID cards (or a copy of the Household Registration List) to Personnel Office.
