Through the YZU’s commitment of emphasizing ethics, diversity, novel students’ cultivation, together with a plan of implementation tocultivate students in key areas, YZU will continue to train students to become industrial favorite talents. Meanwhile, the “Fuel Cell/Lithium Batteries” driving of the green energy and “Electromagnetic Communication” leading the field of intelligent life are connected with the Executive Yuan’s “Six Key Emerging Industries” in the “Green Energy” industry development and “Twelve Blueprint Love Taiwan” in the “Wisdom of Taiwan” to create the industrial infrastructure. In addition, combined with “Green Energy,” “Green Materials,” “Gerontechnology,” “Digital Content,” “Cognitive Radio,” “Cultural Creativity,” “Knowledge Innovation Management,” and other key research areas, YZU’s effort in application-oriented research will fulfill the society’s needs. The overall strategies of assisting industrial development are:

Leverage with the Far Eastern Group resources

·         To promote the collaboration between Far Eastern Group and YZU, it will go through the preliminary plan to develop new research topics, followed by providing funding for pilot studies to expand our research capacity.

·         Collaboration with Far Eastern Memorial Hospital via “The Academic Cooperation between Far Eastern Memorial Hospital and Yuan Ze University Agreement,” both sides will join together to submit research projects, co-publish research achievement, organize international conferences, and mutual use libraries and other equipments. It will hold “Biotech Platform Seminar” quarterly through discussion and sharing of research topics and results to stimulate more cross-border research collaboration.

·         For students to take summer internship in Far Eastern Group, YZU will build this interaction model to facilitate a close cooperative relationship between the industry and academia.

Energy saving, carbon reduction, and promotion of renewable energy industries

·         YZU was selected by MOE as a model of implementing the “Green University Project” with communities and nearby universities to share the experiences of improving energy efficiency, carbon emission reduction and the utilization of green energy and materials. We have a program to promote the“ Green University”concept and a plan to construct the green energy corridor.

·         YZU cooperate with Yue Ki Industrial Co., Ltd of the Yulon Group to develophybrid fuel cell motorcycles. It will integrate hybrid energy management and fast-charge technology of fuel cells and lithium ion batteries by developing metallic plate stack and system technology applicable to vehicles. YZU already finalized the design of a prototype for this system at the end of 2010.

Construction of industry clusters, assisting commercialization of technology, and creation of industrial application values

·          Matching with upper, middle and downstream industries on green energy technologies, and localizing industrial technology to provide one-stop technology resources, YZU can propel the local industry for technology self-sustainability, international competitiveness, and leadership in industry’s technical standards and specifications.

·         YZU promote membership system and establish green energy technology alliance to provideservices for testing, professional consulting, technology communication, market analysis, technology assessment, patent technology transfer, library service and others.

·         YZU hold annual international symposium regularly, inviting domestic and foreign industry experts and manufacturers to interact and establish industry clusters.

·         YZU promote the industrial development in accordance with the national policy in energy by initiating industrial alliances in specific areas and facilitating the team cooperation among companies to enhance the competitiveness of technology.

·         YZU continue to conduct research in novel technologies, help the industries to transform, and seek for public resources and government research funds, such as industry-academia cooperation projects by the National Science Council and SBIR of the MOEA.

·         YZU offer training courses for industry and provide in-service staff development opportunities. Through our Innovation & Incubation Center, YZU will facilitate and actively promote the newly founded companies stationed in YZU to jointly develop technologies and products.

Construction of professional testing and validation laboratories to help product testing and shorten development time of manufacturers:

·         YZU organize professional teams and foster personnel for technical testing. YZU can collect standards and regulations in specific areas and provide reference and information services for industries.

·         YZU gather the mature out-side experience to become internationally recognized testing and validation laboratories with the resources from industries.

·         YZU transfer the testing and measurement technology and standard management system to the industry to upgrade industrial R&D capabilities.

Integration of technology and humanity, and advancement of the application of intelligent e-life technology

·         YZU provide the open field to promote positive spindle-type plans (including intelligence, green, ecology, energy, culture, etc.), combined with diversified resources (including ICT industry, transportation, banking, energy supply industry, medical industry, tourism, agriculture fisheries and R&D units, etc.) to create innovative and new technology industry clusters for better quality of life.

·         Using intelligent e-life network to enhance the value-added traditional industries, YZU can provide localization of e-life applications (controlling the requirements), industrialization of application service (controlling the key technologies), and service product globalization (controlling the economies of scale).

With the integration of key technologies in fuel cell / lithium battery and the incorporation of domestic and foreign resources, YZU can offer the assistance in authorization of new products, methods and process validation, and testing and training to establish world-class laboratories for industry. The establishment of this laboratory will help to set standards for domestic and foreign units, industry counseling services to provide more product certification services, enhancing product upgrade, technical extension, corporate restructuring, and technology matching opportunities.
