2024 YZU Bread Festival 2024年元智大學麵包節

It is said that the human heart, like a loaf of bread, is warm and full of life. But did you know that every rise and fall of its rhythm is kneaded with thoughts of you?

With that doughy line, you can probably tell - it’s time once again to rise for the Bread Festival!!! 😍🍞

Have you ever heard of this festival?

It originates from an ancient legend at Yuan Ze University.

Long ago, strange and mysterious things often happened at YZU campus. One time, a dolphin named Dolores appeared at the school gate. She humbly begged for food that could keep her fed.

Her pitiful appearance attracted many kind students who brought her bread. Eventually, Dolores settled down and became a beloved mascot at YZU campus. Some students even bought large quantities of bread, hoping to catch Dolores’s eye.

One day, a poor student came by and gave Dolores a piece of bread. This was the student’s only meal for the day, and others mocked him for it. But Dolores stood up and said to everyone,

"This poor student has put more than all the others. You all gave out of your wealth; but he, out of his only meal, put in everything—all he had."

After that, the enlightened students began to hold the Bread Festival every October, selling bread to give to their loved ones, with all the proceeds going to charity. Clap, clap, clap.

We hope this made-up little story conveys the meaning of this year’s Bread Festival to you. After all, how does a small heart hold so much love?
