"The 16+2 weeks flexible teaching plan for faculty members during the semester" and "The 2024-2025 YZU Academic Calendar" were approved during the Administrative Meeting held on July 10, 2024.
- YZU aims to enhance students' self-directed learning, implement flipped teaching for the new generation of university students, strengthen students' global mobility, and increase learning flexibility. Therefore, YZU will implement the 16+2 weeks flexible teaching plan for faculty members during the semester starting from the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Flexible teaching measures for Faculty Members
- Depending on the curriculum content and educational objectives, all faculty members will adjust, condense, or deepen the curriculum content as per their professional judgment. For example, in a one-credit course, 16 hours will be allocated in weeks 1-16. Then, the remaining 2 hours will be reserved for faculty members to implement flexible teaching measures such as problem discussions, flipped teaching, demonstrations and practical exercises, off-campus visits, various speeches/lectures both inside and outside the university campus, online assignments, digital self-learning, and student self-directed learning.
- Faculty members should outline in detail the curriculum design, teaching content, and performance assessment methods in the teaching plan. The department chair will review the teaching plan to ensure proper implementation of flexible teaching. Faculty members are also required to prepare supporting materials for at least 1 year (relevant materials that align with the course progress of the teaching plan, such as information, teaching materials, announcements, etc., which can be uploaded to the portal for preservation).
- Faculty members will provide students with sufficient channels for discussion or communication to promote teacher-student interaction and maintain good teaching quality.
- Highlights of the 2024-2025 YZU Academic Calendar Revision:
- Addition of a "Flexible Learning Week" in weeks 17-18 of the second semester of the 2024-2025 YZU Academic Year.
- Inclusion of deadlines for "Payment of Credit Fees for Postponed Students" and the opening and closing dates for "Mentor Interaction Questionnaires."
- Adjustment of various project timelines, including course selection, course withdrawal applications, midterm/final exams, evaluation of student learning effectiveness, early warning counseling, advisor workshops, dormitory arrangements, etc.
