Office of Academic Affairs Announcement

Subject: To facilitate the issuance of English diploma certificates, students expecting to graduate in the second semester of the 113th academic year are required to enter their English name online within the designated period.

1. Website to Enter English Name:

YZU → Portal → Personal → Basic Information → English Name

2. Input Period:

From now until April 25, 2025 (Friday).
Students who fail to enter their English name within the specified time will only receive a Chinese diploma.

3. Guidelines for Entering Phonetic English Names:

- Example:

   - Last Name (Family Name): Chang

   - First Name (Given Name): Yung-Wen (for 張永文)

- Your English name should be a phonetic translation of your Chinese name, and must match exactly with the name on your passport, English diploma, transcript, TOEFL/GRE/GMAT exam registrations, and visa applications to avoid any discrepancies.

- If you do not have an English name, you may refer to the following website for Chinese-to-English transliteration:
  (1) http://www.edu-fair.com/Fair/WG.html (Mandarin Romanization Reference Table)

- The use of English nicknames (e.g., John, Tom, Mary) is discouraged, unless such names appear on your official passport as an alias (middle name).

- Since English naming conventions place the given name before the family name, while Chinese naming conventions place the family name first, the recommended input format is:

   - 張永文 → Yung-Wen Chang (standard format)
   - Chang, Yung-Wen (with comma)
   - Chang Yung-Wen (underline the last name)
   - CHANG, Yung-Wen (uppercase last name for emphasis)
